Gabriel Garcia Marquez - Author Typeface

Gabriel Garcia Marquez was a Colombian screenwriter and journalist, I studied into his background to make a typeface based around his life. Gabriel lived a life that was full of up and downs, I communicate this through matches. The matches represent his up and downs throughout his life from showing un-burnt matches at the beginning of his signature through to more burnt and unstable matches towards the end of his signature.

The result from the match composition provided and arial perspective of Gabriels timeline of life. This can be seen from left to right gradually showing his downfall.

I made the typeface for Gabriel through pressing the tips of the matches onto paper, each match left a different impression on the page. The variety shows the lifestyle Grabriel had until his passing in 2014.
